I recognise the sea with home. For me there is nothing more beautiful in the entire world!
So strong and delicate, with its many contrasts, it gives me that feeling of absolute freedom and fullness of spirit that even a thousand words or gestures will ever do!
Italy, of course, boasts some of the finest beaches in the world but not very far away a small rare pearl hides, the beautiful island of Malta! With or without the symbol that has characterized it for centuries, the magical Azure Window that felt down a few weeks ago due to sea erosion, Malta still remains an absolut must-see!
Me and my beardy-boy visited the island in late September and, just before the arrival of summer, I wanted to tell you about our trip on the blog, hoping to inspire and increase in you the desire to take a dip in the history, the infinite culture and the incomparable crystal clear waters of one of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean sea: Malta … and it was immediately love <3
Where to stay:
To inspire you in your choices, me and my beardy-boy tested three wonderful hotels in three different places of the Island!
Intercontinental Malta – St. Giljan (St. Julian’s): located in the exclusive beachside resort of St Julian’s, InterContinental Malta is just seven kilometres away from Malta’s capital city, la Valletta, and within walking distance of some of the islands finest shopping and entertainment locations (just in front of the Hard Rock Café!). The Intercontinental Malta Hotel St. Giljan boasts a wonderful private beach on The Bajja ta’ San Gorg! The famous chain always knows how to make itself recognisable and this beautiful Maltese complex is certainly worthy of its name! Intercontinental Malta St. Giljan offers rooms of any type from the most economic with internal terrace to the garden, through the suites, up to the ultra-luxury penthouses with breathtaking views! The pool of the hotel is one of the longest I’ve ever seen, raised up overlooking the city! Many bars and restaurants inside the hotel offer cuisines from the world .. but the terrace at cocktail time, where me and my berdy-boy tasted exclusive finger food .. well that is the one you cannot miss! Intercontinental is definitely our No. 1 choice for ultra-luxury stay in Malta!
Ramla Bay Resort: on the northwest end of the island, the Ramla Bay Resort is absolutely one of the most beautiful places to watch the sunset in Malta! Especially suitable for relax and families, it offers yoga classes, entertainment and a wonderful beach bar, where you can enjoy sensational mojitos or have an aperitivo -spritz nachos- at the most enjoyable sound of Maltese music! The private beach is quite small but very characteristic! The resort has two wonderful outdoor swimming pools (in addition to indoor spa area where me and my beardy boy took a dip to relax after a long day at the beach!
Quaint Boutique Hotel Nadur: if you have planned to stay in Malta for at least five days you definitely cannot miss the beautiful island of Gozo, in the Maltese archipelago. Me and my beardy boy stopped in Gozo for 2 days and stayed at the Quaint Boutique Hotel Nadur, the perfect place to get under the skin of Gozo (once in Nadur it is easy to find because it is just behind the Parish Church)! The hotel is absolutely sensational and a bit unusual (in a positive way)! All rooms have an in-room Jacuzzi, plasma TV and a small living room with sofa!
For dinner we tested the hotel’s restaurant, “The Fat Rabbit”, cooking delicious and unique Maltese rabbit at a fairly inexpensive price. The hotel also offers an excellent breakfast buffet, served inside the “The Fat Rabbit” restaurant with only € 5.50!
